Getting Appointed With Abacus

Why sign up with Abacus?

In order to access the online programs, your firm must first sign up with Abacus. The sign up process is quick and easy.

If my firm is already appointed with one of the Abacus carriers, is an Abacus contract still required?

Yes. Abacus operates as a Managing General Agent for the respective carriers. The programs we manage are handled through different divisions of the carriers and are independent of any existing relationships you may have.

What information do I need to provide?

Abacus requires a signed Producer Agreement, Resident State License, proof of Errors & Omissions coverage, W-9 and an Electronic Funds Transfer Agreement (so we can send you commissions). Sign up and we will email you the required documents.

How long does the registration process take?

Completed documents received prior to 3 pm Pacific Time are processed the same day.

Can I view forms and pricing prior to signing up?

No. You will be able to access the sample policies and quickly quote our programs once you are signed up.

Broker Compensation

What commissions do you pay?

Commissions vary by program and are competitive in the industry. Generally, non-renewable or short term policies receive a 10% commission and renewable or annual policies receive a 15% commission.

Your commission structure will be available online once your firm is signed up.

Are there any access fees?

No. Abacus does not charge any access fees.

Are there any volume commitments?

No. Abacus does not have any volume commitments.

Does business written with Abacus count towards my volume with my existing carriers?

No. Business placed through Abacus does not count towards your carrier volume.

Are there any Incentive Plans?

Yes. From time to time, Abacus offers various incentives on our programs for new and renewal business. You will be able to track your progress towards the incentive payouts in real-time from your account.

Is all quoting performed online?

Yes. All programs are available for online quoting. The average quote time is 2 – 3 minutes.

Does Abacus have a help line? Are there live underwriters to assist?

Yes. Our state of the art online Message Center allows you to communicate electronically with Abacus. In addition, we have Live Chat and telephone options.
